Gullfoss Downstream Canyon
Gullfoss is a 2-tier waterfall, of 11 metres and then 21 metres drop into this steep-sided canyon. The falls flow from the Langjokull Glacier which is in West Iceland.
Gullfoss means 'Golden Falls', a nod to how it appears in the summer. Although not golden on the day I visited the falls, just as I was about to find sanctuary in the car from the ice-cold, gale-force wind, a little sunshine broke through just for a moment.
